Sacred music instrument of Zimbabwe, the mbira is frequently played at religious ceremonies and social gatherings. The instrument is common all throughout Africa, and recently western versions have been produced, namely the kalimba and specifically the Hugh Tracey.

It is used wordwide by professional musicians, recording artists and film composers. The note arrangement and tonal qualities are so unique and rich that it was recently professionally sampled for an extensive virtual instrument program.
